MAINTAINING OUR TEMPLE //

LungsHealthy Lung Day
by Sistah Qaraandin

What are our lungs? From Dr. Paul Goss' book The ReBirth of Gods we learn:

Your lungs are your main organs of respiration. You have two of them: one on each side of your chest cavity. Your pump is between your lungs. Your left lung is smaller and has two lobes; your right lung has three lobes. When you inhale the air goes down your trachea or windpipe. Your windpipe branches off into your bronchus. Your bronchus branches off into numerous smaller tubes. These smaller tubes branch off into minute tubes called bronchioles. The bronchioles lead to tiny air sac on the surface of your lungs called alveoli. The alveoil allow the oxygen you inhale to enter each cell of your lungs and your blood.

Those of us who are able to breathe easily anddeeply tend to take our lungs for granted. If the day comes that we have to fight for each breath or ttach ourselves to an oxygen machine, then we find new appreciation for every breath we are able to draw.

The American Medical Association [AMA] is very creative when it comes to giving labels to symptoms. They then treat the symptoms as if the symptoms are the dis-ease. Some of the more popular labels they use for symptoms of dis-ease in the lungs include: asthma, bronchitis, cancer, congestive heart failure, emphysema, pneumonia, and tuberculosis.

Since we are programmed to act as if our temple works in sections instead of as a whole, we operate as if we can have a lung dis-ease in a healthy body. When there is dis-ease in any part of the body the whole body is dis-eased. Cutting out the part will not – can not -- create a healthy body. Pharmaceutical drugs do not help because we can not poison ourselves into good health.

So, how do we make sure our lungs are healthy? Everything we do to maintain our temples keeps our
lungs healthy.

Breathe deeply of pure, fresh air. As the amount of pollution increases that is becoming more and more
difficult. In addition, many of us live in air conditioned houses, work in air conditioned buildings, and
ride in air conditioned cars.

Nature has provided us with the proper mix of gases in the air we breathe so that we maintain perfect health. It is not her fault that we have fouled the air. Conditioned air does not promote good health. And there is more to Nature's air mix than oxygen. That is why breathing pure oxygen does not help us heal.

Having plenty of live plants in our living space – particularly in the bedroom – helps create good balanced air for us to breathe. Certain plants are known to clean the air of the toxic gases released by the building materials, paints, carpets, etc. When we sleep with plants in our bedroom we get a healing session every night.

Burning incense does not help create healthy lungs. If the smoke from incense creates a fine dust that can ruin computers and other electronic equipment, what do we think that fine dust is doing to our lungs?

Room deodorizers and air fresheners do not get rid of odors in the room. The chemicals they contain line the fine hairs inside the nose so that we can not smell anything else. The chemicals are taken into our lungs and have been linked to lung dis-ease.

Whenever we use aerosol sprays – even the ones that have no scent – we inhale the vapors and wind up with the chemicals in our lungs. Doctors will sometimes tell folk who have difficulty breathing not to use aerosol sprays. Almost no one warns against using them as a preventative measure to maintain healthy lungs......

Drink plenty of pure, spring water. As the level of pollution of the lakes, streams, oceans and rivers increases it becomes more difficult to get good quality spring water. This is because all of the water on the planet is connected.

The lungs require moisture to function properly. It is well understood that asthma and other breathing problems can be cured just by drinking more water. Pay attention to our diets.

Remember, everything we see, hear, taste, touch and smell is part of the diet. We cannot maintain our temples with junk.

The foods we eat should consist mainly of fresh raw fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds and whole grains. If we eat meat, it should be small amounts and of the best quality.

Unless we know who grew the food, it no longer makes sense to buy foods labeled “organic.” The owners of the companies that process our food have gotten their friends in government to water down the meaning of “organic” so much that the label means nothing.

Even those of us who live in apartments can grow herbs and vegetables so that we can be sure of the quality of some of our food. Those of us with yards can grow something to eat just as easily as we grow flowers.

Herbs that are good for the lungs include: comfrey, fenugreek, golden seal, mullein, slippery elm, uva ursi, Irish moss, elecampane, ginger, pleurisy root, myrrh, hops, hyssop, flax seed.

We tend to add herbs to our diet without removing the things that destroy our health. We then complain that herbs don't work. We can not wash our herbs down with a soda and expect healing. Herbs are used in addition to other healthy habits, not instead of them.

For many of us mucus accumulates in the lungs because we use dairy products. This mucus coating makes it difficult for us to breathe. The body coughs to get rid of the mucus. We take cough suppressants to quiet the cough which keeps the mucus in the body.

The body is not going to get rid of anything it needs for good health. Whatever form the body chooses to get the toxins out, just let them go. There is no need to save any of that “stuff.”

The vapors from the chemical used to create the butter flavor in microwave popcorn is known to cause lung dis-ease. When we inhale the butter smell of a freshly opened bag of microwave popcorn we are not creating healthy lungs.

Exercise regularly. We can gently ease ourselves into exercise without causing dis-stress to the body.
The more we use the body the more we are able to use it.

Walking, yoga, tai-chi, qi gong, and dancing are examples of exercises that do not require special equipment and are good for strengthening the body. Remember: pain is the body's way of saying “stop.”

Get enough sleep. Our bodies rejuvenate and regenerate while we are sleeping. The more damage done to our bodies during the day the more sleep we need at night.

Most of us have never experienced a “black night.” It is clearly understood that when we sleep with light on at night we interrupt the process whereby the body creates melatonin and other chemicals it needs for good health.

Spend time in the sun. As children of the sun we can avoid many of the dis-eases that we are told are “hereditary” just by spending some time out of doors every day. The more time we spend in the sun, the better for our health.

Black folk who wear sunglasses have more dis-ease than Black folk who do not wear sunglasses. The sun's rays striking the eye stimulates healing throughout the body.

Women who live in societies that mandate that they completely cover their bodies tend to have many dis-eases that are known to be the result of vitamin D deficiency. The best source of vitamin D is sunlight.

Keep the colon clean. Just as we must exhale in order to have room in our lungs for the next breath, we must get rid of old fecal matter to make room for what will be created by the next meal. In addition, when the colon is too large it crowds the other organs. When the lungs are crowded there is not enough room for us to draw deep, full breaths.....

X-rays and other forms of radiation are linked to cancer formation. Folk who get regular chest x-rays as a means of detecting cancer tend to eventually get a lung cancer diagnosis. The cancer is the result of the chest x-rays. Much the same way that breast cancers are often the result of the mammograms used to screen for them.

Our ancestors knew that dis-ease in the body is the result of spiritual problems and not just a breakdown of the body. Folk who have difficulty breathing tend to have stopped allowing themselves to live life fully.

The emotions associated with healthy lungs are righteousness, surrender, letting go, and emptiness. This makes sense when we realize that one breath must be released before we can take in another. The emotions associated with dis-eased lungs are sadness, grief, and sorrow.

In the US what is sold to us as “health care” is actually dis-ease management. Too many people make their living off of pain and suffering to allow healing in the mix. As far as they are concerned “a patient cured is a customer lost.”

The governments – local, state, and federal – are the largest investors in most of the companies in the dis-ease managment industry. Since they stand to lose quite a bit of money if all of the sick folk regain their health they pass laws to make it “illegal” for folk to have access to therapies that will cure them.

So if we want to have healthy bodies – which would automatically include healthy lungs – we are going to have to take responsibility for ourselves. We are going to have to do our own studying and thinking. We are going to have to recognize the value of our melanin and be clear on what we have to do to operate it to maximum effect. We are going to have to value our bodies more than we value the dollar.

No one else can decide for us that we will have healthy bodies. Others have clearly shown us their motivation for keeping us dis-eased. What is our motivation to maintain our temples?

Not too long ago Bernie Mac became another casualty of the dis-ease management system. Apparently, he had been treated for many years for a set of symptoms labeled “sarcoidosis.” His immune system was out of balance and attacked normal cells of his body. In “sarcoidosis” the cells stick together and form clumps that restrict the lungs' function.

When the cells clump in another organ or part of the body, the symptoms are given another name. In all cases, the underlying cause is an immune system that is having difficulty recognizing “self” and “non-self.”

Folk that have “sarcoidosis” are usually given steroids and/or drugs to suppress the immune system. When they have enough drugs in their bodies to totally suppress the symptoms, the dis-ease management system describes them as being in “remission.” The reason the body created the symptoms in the first place is never addressed.

Of course, over time one type of drug will stop working. Then another, stronger type of drug will be given. The purpose of the drugs given is to keep the immune system from doing its job. When the body has no immune function to fight with it's very easy for infection to set in – in Bernie Mac's case it was pneumonia. An infection that a healthy body shakes off becomes fatal.

According to reports, for 20 years Bernie Mac had received the standard treatment from the dis-ease management system for “sarcoidosis”: he was poisoned. And, because he was rich, he was poisoned into the best death money could buy.
